This policy applies to Experian Small Business, a business-to-business online prospecting tool of Experian Marketing Solutions, Inc.

This policy applies only to this online Web site and application(s). It does not apply to any products offered through other channels or to consumer information that may otherwise be collected or compiled by Experian Marketing Solutions, Inc.

Appropriate Business Use
Experian's Small Business solutions were developed for and intended solely for use by legitimate businesses and professionals who register, are verified and approved, and who contractually agree to terms and conditions for appropriate use and consequences for inappropriate use. These services are not intended for children and all individuals who register and use these services should be 18 years of age or older.

Information Collection And Use
In registering for and using our Small Business services, Experian collects various contact, identifying and billing information from you. The type of information that may be collected, and the typical purpose for which it may be used, includes:

  • Contact information, such as your name, company name, address, phone number, fax number and email address, is used for authentication and billing purposes. We may also share this information with other reputable third parties that offer similar or complementary services.
  • Identification information, such as Social Security number, Federal Tax ID or Driver's License number, is used primarily to properly authenticate prospective users and for billing purposes. Billing information, such as credit card number, is used to process online purchase transactions. Experian will never willfully disclose any of this information to a third party or use it for any other purpose except as may be required in connection with an audit of our systems or pursuant to a legal proceeding such as a subpoena.

Choices For Opting Out Of Information Use And Sharing
When you become a registered user of these services, you agree to the use of your information as described herein. However, you do have choices when it comes to communications that may be directed to you as a result of having provided your contact information to Experian. You may notify us of your opt-out choice by email. Please clearly indicate your choice regarding communications from Experian or a third party by including the following statement(s), as applicable, and email it to smallbusiness@experian.com.

  • Please do not send me any promotional information from Experian.
  • Please do not share my contact information with third parties.

Security
We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide our products and services to you. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect your nonpublic personal information and to protect the information you upload into the application.

When ordering online, we do not cache, or save, your information if you skip to another page before you submit your completed order. When you submit information it is protected when it is sent over the Internet. Experian employs a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection that provides an encrypted connection between your computer and Experian. Personal or secure information is encrypted during transmission and is stored on a secure Web server. Credit card numbers are encrypted when transmitted and remain encrypted when stored.

Web Logs And Cookies
Web log information is automatically gathered every time you visit our Web site by the computer that hosts our Web site (called a "webserver"). The webserver automatically recognizes non-personal information, such as the date and time you visited our site, the pages you visited, the Web site you came from, the type of browser you are using (e.g. Internet Explorer), and the type of operating system you are using (e.g. Windows 2000).

Each time you log on to Small Business, our server software sets a unique session ID known as a "cookie." A cookie contains the ID of the backend session that you are interacting with each time you make a new connection to the web server. It is passed back to the server for your subsequent activity, user ID, and criteria set information. The cookies are intended to save you time by allowing you to return to pages previously viewed. They are temporary and will be automatically deleted at the end of each session.
